In order to better prepare our students for the HKDSE Chinese Speaking Examination, the Chinese and Chinese History Department hosted two sessions of joint school oral practice with St Joseph’s College on September 27 and October 30. Thirty students from St Joseph’s College, accompanied by their subject teachers, came to our College and took part in the event with our S6 students.
After rounds of group discussion, participating students were given useful feedback on their performance by teachers of both schools. Students found it a rewarding experience to engage in oral practice with elite schools as it enabled them to know where they stand when compared to students from other schools. At the same time, students could get a better understanding about their own strengths and weaknesses and improve on their performance. By the end of the event, most students expressed that they had become more confident in sitting for the upcoming HKDSE Chinese Examination.
