In order to educate our students about the importance of sustainable development, a 4-day study tour to Sabah was arranged for some S2 students from March 24 to 27. It was evident that they learned a great deal about environmental protection and conservation while enjoying the scenic views that Sabah has to offer.
The tour was packed with a range of exhilarating learning activities to enable students to know more about the history and culture of Sabah. These include a visit to a cultural and historic exhibition at the Mari-Mari Cultural Village, a tour to the City Mosque and Atkinson Tower. Students also had a chance to explore the unique ecology of Sabah. Apart from taking a leisurely stroll in the Butterfly Garden and a canopy walk in the rainforest, they visited Lok Kawi Wildlife Park and went on a relaxing river cruise to search for proboscis monkeys and fireflies.
During the trip, students had an opportunity to mingle with some local students and teachers at a secondary school. Our students participated in some of the lessons and the local students were thrilled to have foreign visitors among them. The visit ended with a tea gathering where students of both schools chatted and shared their valuable experiences with each other.
It was truly a memorable and educational trip for the students. Not only did they have a chance to get close to nature, but they also learned about the importance of making active contributions in protecting our environment.
