The College has always been keen on providing students with opportunities to learn outside the classroom. To broaden students’ horizons, a STEM Singapore Study Tour was organized for S3 students from April 14 to April 17, 2019.
During the tour, students got plenty of opportunities to experience local culture. Apart from mingling with some local students at North Vista Secondary School, they also visited several famous scenic spots such as Gardens by the Bay, Merlion Park, Clarke Quay, Little India and China Town. They took a tour of Spottiswoode Park Road too to appreciate mural paintings on display which showcase the lives of traditional Singaporeans. Through sightseeing and trying local food, students got to know more about the multi-cultural background of Singapore.
A highlight of the tour was the various STEM-related activities that students engaged in. Through visits to the Science Centre, Newater Centre and Sustainable Singapore Gallery, students learnt more about the latest advances in STEM and became more aware of the importance of sustainable development.
It was really a memorable and rewarding trip for the students. Apart from learning about the culture and heritage of Singapore, they also gained useful insights into environmental protection and sustainable living.
