2017-03-11   The 2nd Cantonese Speech Contest for Non-Chinese Speaking Secondary Students

The 2nd Cantonese Speech Contest for Non-Chinese Speaking Secondary Students, co-organized by our College and the University of Hong Kong, was successfully held on March 11. The contest aimed to enhance Non-Chinese speaking students’ interest in learning Chinese and to nurture their passion for performing arts in Cantonese. It also provided a platform for experience sharing among schools and Non-Chinese students on teaching and learning Chinese as a second language.

The competition was comprised of three categories: Solo Verse Speaking, Group Verse Speaking and Solo Prose Reading. Over a hundred students from 42 secondary schools participated in this event. The adjudicators were impressed by the participants’ outstanding performance. We are pleased that two of our students achieved remarkable results in the competition. Momna Bashir of 1C won the 1st runner-up in the Solo Verse Speaking category, while Janu Pun of 2I was awarded the merit prize in the Solo Verse Speaking category as well as the most creative presentation prize.

Congratulations to the prize-winners and thank you to all the participants for their efforts.
