As part of our continual effort to promote teachers’ professional growth, a Staff Development Day was held on 29 October 2020.
In the morning, a workshop on “Restorative Practices at School” was held. It aims at enhancing teachers’ techniques in resolving conflicts between different parties at school, thereby reducing behavioral incidents and promoting a positive school culture. There were also role-plays for teachers to get a taste of being a mediator in different scenarios.
In the afternoon, teacher got an opportunity to refresh their knowledge and skills on utilizing “flipped learning” to nurture students’ self-learning abilities. Apart from learning about some theories and practices related to blended learning, teachers also attended a workshop conducted by seconded teachers from EDB, during which they were introduced to some useful subject-specific online tools for enhancing teaching and learning.
It was a fruitful day for all teaching staff to gain insights into the latest teaching pedagogy as well as ways to better address students’ learning and psychological needs.
